Sul set di Ciao Tesoro

Director filmmaker and editor, Amedeo Procopio lives in Milan (Italy). He directed and edited corporate films (Frammenti-Fragments, Temporary Museum for New Design, Marlboro Classics, Ceta Sport, Peugeot-Sweat Years, Milano 90), shortfilms and documentaries. Last fiction shortfilm (by an original screenplay), “Ciao tesoro” (“Bye bye darling”), now internationally distributed, was shot and postproduced, in 35 mm (with Alessandro Zonin cinematographer) and then choosen in more than 80 worldwide festivals (all 5 continents), winning 12 awards, including: Best Foreign Film (Melbourne Int. Comedy Fest - Australia), Silver Remy Award (Int. Worldfest Houston - Usa), Bronze Bear (Festival der Nationen - Austria), Best Film (L’Aquila Int. Short Movie Fest - Italy), Best Fiction Film (Napoli in Corto - Italy), Best Direction (Video Lab Film Fest – Italy). He directed a 6 documentaries series (commissioned by MIFF, Milan Int Film Fest), dedicated to famous cinema personalities (C. Ponti, V.Cortese, G. Giannini, P. Avati, J. Daly, F. Nero). He graduated at DAMS (the Italian university dedicated to arts, film and theatre), with a tesis in Film Photography Techniques, he was TV scriptwriter (“Colpo Grosso”, Italia7-Tv’s sex-game, 500 shows), film journalist (clients: Tele +, La Provincia di Como), president and teacher in “Cinelife”, professional school in Milan (he also created it) for all cinema jobs (over 1000 students in 10 years), which has produced nearly 80 shortfilms and documentaries.

He shot and edited the video “Temporary Museum for New Design” (1’05”), about the Superstudio’s exhibition, at Milan Design Week ’12 (HD video, by Canon 7D).

He shot and edited the doc “La nature” (1’40”), for the Unicef contest (featured by Userfarm Italia) “Frimousses de Créatures” (HD video, by Canon 7D).

He produced and shot the social-fiction “Chi sta dall’altra parte” (3’), for the Vodafone Italia contest (featured by Userfarm Italia) “Adescamento online” (HD video, by Canon 7D).

He produced and shot a videoclip of track “KRIEG” of Simona Gretchen (3’), for 45 giri Film, at Bologna (HD video, by Canon 7D).

He shot (multicamera recording) and edited operatic music and poetry show “Racconti di Primavera” (40’), at Conservatorio di Milano.

November –December 2010

He edited “Cina 2010: dalla tradizione Shaolin all’Expo di Shanghai” (9’), a China travelogue produced by Bruno Sacchi.

October- Novembre 2010

“Ciao tesoro” was released at Ariosto cinema, Milan, throughout 30 days and 3 daily screenings.

June 2010

He produced and shot at Milan “Fausta” feature film’s some scenes, a Paolo Gisonna (RAI) project.

“Ciao tesoro”, available with english, french, spanish an portuguese subtitles, was choosen in more than 80 worldwide festivals (all 5 continents), winning 12 awards.

April 2007/April 2008

He produced, directed and edited the shortfilm “Ciao tesoro” ("Bye bye darling”, 10’40”, by an original screenplay), shot and postproduced in 35 mm. The film is set from midnight till 1 am only and main setting is a belly-dance hall; it was shot with Alessandro Zonin cinematographer (AIC). Long run of preproduction, and expecially of postproduction (due to intermittence working of Augustus Color in Rome), were unfortunately opposed to a really speedy shooting time (only 4 days).

February 2007

He directed and produced a 0’30” HD commercial for Peugeot/Sweat Years clients, commissioned by T-Communications agency (Milan).

March 2003

He directed and edited a 3’00” commercial about sport equipments of Ceta Sport client.

June 2002

He directed and edited a fashion-clip (1’15”) dedicated to promotion of Black & White ecologic-clothes of african stylist Mary Corona.

October 2000

He directed and edited a 2’00” commercial about Marlboro Classics showroom design (client: Stefano Carmi, architect)

2000 – 2006

He directed an edited 6 documentaries dedicated to famous cinema personalities (C. Ponti, V. Cortese, G. Giannini, P. Avati, J. Daly, F. Nero) commissioned by Milano International Film Festival, which presented those works on occasion of Carrier Prizes awarded, year after year, to artists above-mentioned.

March 1995 – July 2005

He founded and was the head of Cinelife, at Milan, production, educational and teaching company about cinema area, which become a point of reference in national cine-video department. He did multiple activities in that company, especially:

  1. Production and Direction of shortfilms (“Cinelife Shorts”), of most various fiction genres, in addition to experimental and documentaries, for a total amount of 80 works, in collaboration with cinema courses’s all students.
  2. Educational Department Head and Teacher, in professional courses with closed-number seats for 100 yearly students, 1000 on the whole, about all all cinema jobs, from preproduction to editing.
  3. Cultural projects, as the foundation of a well-stocked film library (around 800 movies), both featurefilms and shortfilms, and the creation of a periodical international high-quality shortfilms exhibition (“Corto di sera”), in association with a lot of film festivals.

Some shortfilms, directed in Cinelife area in those years, have been awarded or selected in national festivals, even though only a few times they have been sended to shortfilm festivals (among the others: Occhiali neri, Special Mention at Fano Film Fest, Fidelio, Best Film at Alternative Film Festival, S-cambi di vedute, short-list selection at Bellaria Film Fest, Domè, short-list selection at Festival dei Popoli, Sette pentole, Mention at Torino Film Fest).

July 1997

He produced a little documentary set in some cities and rural areas of Holland (“Little great Holland”, 2’00”).

1992 – 1995

He started writing as Film Journalist, contributing throughout 4 years to La Provincia di Como newspaper (reviews about art cinema in Milan), and to film department of TELEPIU’ (European sat TV) and others newspapers.
Since 1995 he’s freelance Journalist.

September 1992 – July 1993

He teached Cinema and Tv Language at Visual Images Department of ITSOS High School, Milan. Moreover, same year he cooperated as teacher for school-leaving examinations at Cinema and Television Institute High School, in Rome.

July 1990 – May 1992

He was Tv scriptwriter in “Colpo Grosso”, Italia7-Tv’s sex-game, showman Umberto Smaila, ASA TV Production, and in associated german (“Tutti Frutti”) and spanish (“¡Ay, qué calor!”) editions, for a total amount of over 500 shows in two years.

Spring 1990

He directed the institutional film “Milano 90 - Per lo sport a Milano” (21’00”; client: Comune di Milano, Assessorato allo Sport), produced by ISG Video (MI).

September 1987 – December 1989

He was Cameraman for Alpha srl (MO), film company producing istitutional and corporate films, in additino to video services for RAI (public Italian TV).

1987 – 2004

As Filmmaker, he produced many different videos: events recording (BMW car series presentation at Autodromo di Monza), backstage (on BMW commercial set), documentaries and minifictions in 4 high schools at Milan, social music videos (“Racism”), some no-budget shortfilms.

1983 – 1987

He started working as cameraman and editor in many institutional and educational projects of “Coop 24” (BO), small videoproduction headed by Pierdante Longanesi, his first “maestro” in film-tv area.

1980 – 1982

He attended a two-year fulltime course (by European Social Fund and Regione Emilia Romagna) to become multivalent Film and Television Technician (at Bologna, CFP); head teacher was the director and cinematographer Pierdante Longanesi.

1980 – 1987

He attended DAMS (the Italian University dedicated to arts, film and theatre), at Bologna, with teachers like Umberto Eco, Riccardo Nepoti, Luigi Squarzina; he graduated with a tesis in Film Photography Techniques, with the final score: 107/110.

1980

He passed the final exams at “P. Galluppi” Institute (classical liceo), at Catanzaro.
